Description
This distinctive composition brings together a pair of original espadrilles dating from approximately the 1940s, now transformed into a decorative object full of character.
The espadrilles retain their original materials and construction, with traditional woven natural-fibre soles, cotton fabric and ribbons designed to fasten around the ankle. Signs of wear, small irregularities and visible marks bear witness to their age and to the life they had before becoming a collectable object.
They are displayed against a traditionally inspired striped textile, with one espadrille shown from the front and the other with its sole facing outwards, allowing both their construction and the graphic beauty of the materials to be appreciated.
The composition has subsequently been mounted in a contemporary wooden frame, chosen to enhance the warm tones and texture of the espadrilles.
A piece that sits between folk object, craftsmanship and decorative art, perfect for bringing history, texture and an unexpected touch to a wall.
