Description
This original contemporary mermaid sculpture depicts a stylised female figure whose body transforms into a long fish tail. In her hands, she holds a small accordion, an unexpected detail that gives the work a narrative, playful and deeply evocative character.
Handcrafted and hand-painted, the piece stands out for its deliberately free and imperfect modelling. Traces of the artist’s hand remain visible across the surface, while layered brushstrokes and variations in colour add texture and bring the figure to life.
The mermaid’s dark body contrasts with the lighter tones of her face and the subtle reddish accents on her cheeks. Her simple, slightly enigmatic expression, together with her pose and musical instrument, gives her a personality of her own, as though she belonged to a story left open to the imagination.
Its artistic language is closely related to naïve art and contemporary artist-made sculpture, consciously moving away from realism in search of emotion, spontaneity and character.
A small sculpture filled with fantasy, humour and poetry, perfect for those drawn to distinctive artist-made pieces and objects capable of introducing an unexpected artistic presence into an interior.
