Description
This ceramic sculpture by Rut Olabarri is part of her artistic language focused on materiality, gesture, and the organic construction of form. Handmade, the piece is composed of multiple undulating planes that open and overlap, creating a structure reminiscent of leaves, petals, or natural formations in a state of expansion.
The finish in soft green tones with earthy variations adds depth and visual richness, evoking plant elements and landscapes eroded by time. The irregular edges, far from seeking perfection, reinforce the sense of movement and growth, as if the piece were alive or in transformation.
The work sits between sculpture and object, functioning both as an autonomous artistic piece and as a decorative element with strong presence. Its low, open volume invites observation from different angles, revealing new readings from each perspective.
True to Olabarri’s practice, this piece stands out for its unique character, handmade process, and connection to the organic, becoming a work that dialogues with nature through a contemporary lens.
