Description
This cushion is made from an exceptional French flammé or ikat textile dating from the late 18th century, woven from a blend of cotton and linen and dyed in a rich indigo blue, now beautifully softened by the passage of time.
Characteristic of flammé textiles, the design features a geometric pattern of blurred lines and forms in blue and natural tones, creating the subtly vibrant and irregular effect associated with ikat dyeing techniques.
The textile has been simply quilted in a diamond pattern, adding texture without detracting from the visual richness of the original fabric.
The cushion is made using the same textile on both sides, hand-finished with invisible stitching, and includes a duck-feather filling.
