Description
This distinctive antique wicker basket stands out for its handcrafted construction and the beauty of its materials, naturally aged over the years.
Circular in shape and low in height, it features a woven structure of natural fibres, completely lined on the inside with a thick linen fabric, carefully fitted and hand-sewn to the shape of the basket. At its centre is a raised section, also covered in fabric, related to its original function.
The linen retains old woven lines, visible stitching, stains, wear and irregularities that give the piece an extraordinary richness of texture. Far from diminishing its appeal, these traces reveal its history and lend it the beautifully imperfect aesthetic so characteristic of antique utilitarian objects.
Now removed from its original context, the basket takes on an intriguing sculptural and decorative presence. It can be displayed as an object in its own right or incorporated into a composition alongside other antique pieces, bringing natural texture, authenticity and character to an interior.
A humble yet characterful piece, particularly appealing for the beauty of its materials and the traces that time has left upon them.
