Description
This charming Swedish wall cabinet, dating from the early 19th century, is a characterful piece of vernacular furniture with a beautiful patina acquired over more than two centuries.
Crafted from wood, it features an architectural silhouette crowned by a shaped cornice and a moulded front door. It retains an old painted finish in shades of blue and grey-green, naturally worn over time to reveal different layers of colour and areas of the original wood beneath.
The door retains its iron hardware and a delicate brass keyhole escutcheon, while the natural wood interior features a shelf dividing the storage space.
Small areas of paint loss, scuffs, irregularities and signs of use are all part of its history and give the piece its distinctive depth and authenticity.
A small Swedish cabinet with great decorative presence, perfect for use as a wall cabinet, small cupboard or sculptural piece, particularly appealing in interiors where antiques are combined with contemporary elements.
