Description
The composition is arranged vertically: a tower of hats rises in an improbable, almost fragile balance. Each one is built from different fabric scraps, with colours, textures, and patterns that do not seek uniformity but coexistence. Greens, reds, blues, and ochres follow one another as if each hat belonged to a different story.
The pink damask background clearly evokes antique domestic textiles—bedspreads, curtains, interior fabrics that carry memory without slipping into overt nostalgia. Against it, the cut-out shapes stand out by contrast, but also through their tactility: volume is suggested in the seams, the bound edges, and the small floral embroideries that decorate some of the pieces.
Visible stitching once again takes centre stage. It does not correct or conceal; it constructs. It marks the time of manual labour and reinforces the sense of a made, handled, lived object. The motif—an everyday yet slightly theatrical object like the hat—introduces a playful tone, restrained and far from anecdotal.
