A traditional textile from the Naga communities of the mountainous regions between north-eastern India and Burma (present-day Myanmar), dating approximately from the 1970s.
Woven from cotton on a traditional loom, it features a structured composition of stripes and geometric motifs characteristic of Naga textile traditions. The intense green ground is combined with red, black and small details in lighter tones, creating a rhythmic design with remarkable visual presence.
Subtle irregularities in the weave, variations in tension and the preserved fringes are part of its handcrafted nature and give the piece its unique character.
Originally created as a textile for traditional use, pieces of this kind now have an extraordinary decorative presence, whether displayed on a wall as a tapestry or draped over a bed, sofa or large table.
