Description
This antique polychrome metal birdcage stands out for its distinctive architectural structure and the beauty of its aged finish. Circular in shape, it features a body formed by slender metal bars and a characteristic conical roof, giving it a particularly elegant and decorative silhouette.
The structure retains traces of its original polychrome finish in a rich blue tone, now irregularly worn by the passage of time. Scuffs, oxidation and small areas of paint loss have created a magnificent patina that lends depth and authenticity to the piece.
Inside, it retains various elements from its original function, including small perches and containers, while the top is finished with a ring from which the cage could be suspended.
Now removed from its original purpose, it takes on a new appeal as a decorative object and collector’s piece. Its combination of metal, aged blue tones and geometric forms gives it an almost sculptural quality, perfect for bringing texture, history and personality to an interior.
