Description
This elegant neoclassical decorative plaster column, circa 1950, revives the ornamental language of classical architecture through a piece with a strong sculptural presence.
Its structure features a fluted shaft resting on a moulded base with rounded forms. The upper section concentrates all its decorative richness in an elaborate Ionic-inspired capital, dominated by large symmetrical volutes and enriched with acanthus leaves, rosettes and various botanical motifs in relief.
Crafted from plaster, it retains a slightly aged white finish, with small marks, areas of wear and variations in tone that accentuate the depth of the ornamentation and add character to the surface.
Its classical aesthetic and bold proportions allow it to function as a true architectural and sculptural element within an interior.
